Dar al-Lobab working on a new edition of Tafsir al-Razi

Ibn ‘Ashur Centre’s director Sohaib Saeed paid a visit to the Istanbul headquarters of Dar al-Lobab, to discuss with their director Muhammad al-Abdallah about their exciting project to produce a critical edition of Imam Razi’s important al-Tafsir al-Kabir (Mafatih al-Ghayb).

Points of discussion included assessment of manuscripts, the expert team overseeing the work, previous editions of Imam Razi’s sources (including the Kashshaf of al-Zamakhshari, recently published by Dar al-Lobab), and the question of the disputed authorship of sections of the work.

Dr. Sohaib shared some of his own work based on the manuscripts, and the parties agreed to cooperate as far as possible as the project continues to develop. It is hoped that this edition will fill an inexplicable gap which has existed until now.
