Research
Ibn ‘Ashur Centre provides a space for scholars to work on core sciences of the Quran and its interpretation, and to push the boundaries of the field to incorporate emerging research questions and methods.
Some key research areas:
Quran Translation
Tafsīr (exegesis) and its Uṣūl (principles)
Tadabbur (reflection)
History from revelation to canonisation
Bayān Studies: the language and eloquence of the Quran
Taṣdīq Studies: the Quran’s interaction with earlier traditions
We support research students to design their projects, and Ibn ‘Ashur Centre is exploring joint supervision of MA and PhD researchers with several Islamic universities. Academic conferences and other opportunities will be announced on this website and the Centre’s social media channels.
