Corrected Arabic edition of Imam Razi’s Tafsir introduction

Ibn ‘Ashur Centre has contributed to the study of Fakhr al-Din al-Razi’s al-Tafsir al-Kabir (Mafatih al-Ghayb) by editing the author’s introduction against selected digitised manuscripts. This indicative result will be published online shortly, and we hope to continue to play a role in the major project to edit the whole work.

A video posted on the Centre’s YouTube channel shows how all existing Arabic editions are corrupted, and the problems stem from the first Bulaq edition (1863). We read through a corrected version of the text, and see a few of the manuscripts this work was based on. There is also discussion of how Dr. Sohaib's translation of The Great Exegesis can be improved based on this corrected text!
