IQSA annual meeting in Palermo, Sicily
Ibn ‘Ashur Centre’s director Sohaib Saeed participated in the annual meeting of the International Qur’anic Studies Association (IQSA) in Palermo, Sicily, along with a diverse range of scholars working on aspects of the Quran.
Dr. Sohaib presented a joint paper with Dr. Marijn van Putten of Leiden University on “Sources and Strategies in Translating the Canonical Readings of the Qur’an”. Update: an extended version of that presentation is available on our YouTube channel.
Another highlight was the visit to La Pira Library, where it was quickly discovered that two tafsirs on the shelves could be signed by their translators! Our director, translator of Imam Razi’s Great Exegesis, enjoyed a conversation with Dr. Feras Hamza, translator of Tafsir al-Jalalayn.
